About the Library

Welcome to the Boyd Library!

The Jesse Boyd Media Center strives to help students learn to use information so that they can communicate their own ideas creatively. The library media center is open 7:30am-3:00pm every day. It is open for teacher, student, and parent use anytime within these hours. Students must be accompanied by a parent before and after school hours.
Students are allowed to come to the library with a teacher’s pass any time throughout the day in order to exchange their library books. Kindergarten and first grade may check out 1 book. Second and third graders can check out 2 books. Fourth and fifth graders may check out 3 books. Books are due in two weeks. Students may renew their books if they have not finished in 2 weeks. If they have overdue books, they may not check out another book until the overdue book is turned in, renewed, or paid for. Students must return or pay for all library books in order to participate in school events such as Field Day, Top Dog, and other events. A teacher may send a student with a library pass to check out books at any time.
You can search the Boyd School Library Catalog from home or school to find books in our library. Did you know that you can also find links to great websites on our catalog? The homepage has links to websites to help you with research projects, what to read next, and fun and games. We are very excited to provide a connection between books, technology, and literacy in our library. To be democratic participants, students need to have an excitement to seek information about a variety of topics, read for learning and enjoyment, and use information to help them make ethical decisions and take ACTION. We recognize that technology has an important role in our global society, and students need to be prepared to use technology to communicate with peers and community.
